Since I was little, relationships, community and family have always been at the forefront of my thoughts. I possess a lot of logic and attention to detail. My emotional expression is generally subtle, and, in contrast to that, my thoughts are dedicated massively to a society as a team mentality. SpiritSentient has big vision. A vision that obviously cannot be realized without support and acceptance from a global team. Because in a way, that is the vision.
Throughout my life, I’ve encountered many people, who’s hearts are telling them the same thing. Their hearts are telling them that they are destined for greater things- for more! That they are destined to be involved in great growth and a great change in the world. At the time when I meet them, very often, they are trying their best to ignore this feeling. They see the inspiring people around them. They have knowledge of amazing causes and movements that their own unique skills and talents could benefit greatly. They know this. And yet, if you were to ask them what they did with the majority of their day, their words would not speak of how they used their skills and gifts as part of a team to affect massive change. Their words, will tend to speak of how they grind it out at a 9-5 for some pay that gets washed away by bills. And it’s often difficult to detect any joy in what they’re relating. Certainly, there are blips of happiness and they’ll talk about a promotion but what they’re really talking about at these times are how they were able to use their skills and for once, someone recognize it and appreciated it.
There’s no "I" in "Team"
There are all kinds of things people list that stop or prevent them from becoming involved in what they truly wish to be involved in. They’ll talk of needing shelter and money. They’ll speak of how others will think of them or judge them, they’ll talk of things that don’t truly express what they’re really about. So, despite all this, there are 86,400 seconds in a day, and if you were to ask them to name one direct thing they did for 60 seconds of their day dedicated to and invested in the team they want to be a part of or create, many of them would be hard-pressed to come up with an answer. In our technological age, it can take 10 seconds to twitter about a website or cause you support. And out of the 80,000 or so seconds in a day, if you were so preoccupied with shelter, money and general well-being that you couldn’t take 10 seconds to twitter and promote something you love, what does that say about your own priorities?
I’m not sure how many readers have ever had the opportunity to converse with a volunteer, but people who volunteer often have a very interesting outlook. I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered a volunteer who did not gush about all the positive aspects of their volunteer experience. Whether it was for a short period or long, they generally felt incredible to be using their skills to further the growth of something they were passionate about and believed in. A massive amount of them end up successful in their field through the doors opened by the volunteering. While these people may not invest money, or donate like wealthy philanthropists, they’re still giving and investing through themselves and becoming involved in a team effort.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us…It’s the guy, who’s willing to die, who’s gonna win that inch"
This post came about after Arthur and I watched Al Pacino’s speech in “Any given Sunday”, where he’s the coach of a football team who are down to their last ditch effort to win the game, their feeling dejected and not really playing at their best. He inspires huge motivation with a beautiful monologue focused on the beautiful timing and perfection of life and how a team can be conscious of this and aid in it’s flow. It was such a good clip, that I’ll end this post by sharing it with you here. I fully intend for it to stir something deep within you, and help you to think and choose something new today.
