Thank you!

A sincere, emotional, heartfelt thanks to all of you. Sometimes I feel called to express gratitude on a different level than in my person-to-person relationships. I just finished watching the movie Wall-E (pretty late jumping on the band-wagon, I know,) and it really struck a chord with me. The majority of people I know loved this movie and Wall-E is looked at as one of Pixar’s greatest animation achievements. There’s plenty of things to understand from the movie, and different people boil it down to different things: some find it a commentary on our environmental situation, some look at what it seems to say about technology, and for myself, I see it as a powerful analogy to the extremes humanity’s spirit can reach – it can be all that and more. It highlights human development from the height of apathy, lethargy, and ignorance, to the most passionate, inspired desire to create anew — and the beauty of experiencing that.

Throughout the movie I felt many things, I laughed a little, cried a little, perhaps "a piece of me died a little," most of all though, I felt grateful. For our planet, for our growth and evolution, and for each and every relationship we’ve all lived.

I’ve written about gratefulness before, and how its a powerful tool, and it really is. Like most tools, it works even better in conjunction with others such as focus or clarity. At the time I chose not to express how good it feels to be grateful. It’s a tremendous feeling to be aware of how much every person, every situation, and every experience has shaped us into who we are today. It really opens one’s eyes to how far we’ve come, individually and collectively. The technology we have today is pure creative genius, and I can see the world learning to use it so well with its recent trend toward green, eco-friendly products. Huge corporations reflect the minds and desires of the masses, and the masses want pleasure and luxury and ease and technology and beauty, and they no longer want it at the cost of the planet’s resources. You may see it differently, you may look around in your social circles and experience and see only waste and greed, and that’s fine. It doesn’t change the fact that instead of seeing only huge debates over which plsama/LCD screen is bigger, sharper, or cheaper, there are also substantial discussions of which ones are more energy efficient and better for the planet. Where sometime ago western citizens might be judged or looked down upon if they didn’t have a nice car, more and more now people are interested in whether one has an eco-friendly, cost-effective, travel solution. Similar cases can be noted for clothing, medication, and much more.

I’m thankful for all of you.

This isn’t the time to get into ‘the Obama issue’, but it’s definitely an event which has drawn focus and attention by a huge portion of the globe, stirring up thoughts and discussions. I’m thankful for the awesome shift in so many people’s thinking, and I’m thankful more and more people of influence and power are focusing on doing good in the world. Many people shrink at the concept of utopia, dismissing it as never possible in the past, and due to ‘human nature’, never possible now. I feel like I’m living my own personal, subjective utopia though, and how could I not appreciate and be grateful for such a thing :)

I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for reading and sharing and giving your time and attention and care and love. Your success feeds my success and you’re all doing awesome things in the world, and whether we’ve met physically or not, here’s a hug from me to you.

I’d also like to thank Arthur Hung, a recent addition to the SpiritSentient team, an all-around incredible guy. He has brilliant value to offer to the world, please look for his upcoming debut on this site.

Take care,

-J.
