spiritsentient.com art news :)
a quick update: slack’s, hemmingway’s, a TBA upcoming show, a possible line on working with an interior decorator, i am in talks with people at tequila bookworm, and there was an art in the park incident.
slack’s:
i should really double check on this, but i believe i still have a piece hanging there (its gorgeous.)
hemmingway’s:
a classy joint in yorkville — rooftop patio – go see it (and my work!) i donated two (2) pieces (stepping through and asylum angel) to art4awareness.org (note: sarah skinner, a co-founder of art4awareness has awesome energy) who are hosting an art auction for the Center For Addiction And Mental Health on Oct. 18th (be there and bid high
,) from their site:
“Art for Awareness is currently organizing an art exhibition which will take place at Hemingway’s, Remy’s, Caren’s Wine and Cheese bar, and Y-not lounge from the beginning of September until mid October 2008. An auction will take place at the end of the exhibition at Hemingway’s Restaurant and Bar. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.”
upcoming TBA show:
well, the tentative plan is nov. 7th, the first friday in november. art will line the walls, musicians will be perfoming, and black pearl magic should be working the room with their ridiculously entertaining and impressive magician-skills. i am open to venue suggestions but am thinking Soma nightclub in leslieville or Steamwhistle Brewery. If anyone has ideas for wicked places for art and music, send me a note.
interior decor thing:
a crazy random opportunity that fell in my lap. i feel really good about it, but it’s all up in the air
que sera sera and i love it no matter what.
tequila bookworm:
a cool place my friend greg turned me on to, that gets rave reviews around T.O. — it’s a cafe with books and magazines (and usually art) lining the walls on queen west. i had a meeting there today and feel it went well, again, we’ll see.
art in the park:
i randomly tried selling my art in a north york park (g. lord ross g. ross lord — really wonderful park bella introduced me to – if my word is enough to encourage you to walk in it, then do so
) — it was a really interesting experience and a ‘random’ sampling of human reaction. no one purchased, i did get some smiles though, which was fine with me.
so that’s most of the news. keep ya posted

Err, hon, it’s actually “G. Ross Lord” Park.
And I see what you mean about busy.
Tequila Bookworm sounds like my kind of place
Definitely have to check it out one of these days!
yeah i do recommend it, and so do greg + jackie
and they’ve got free wireless internet if you bring a laptop
hahah.
I wasn’t a huge fan of tequila bookworm. Big markups on locally bought food. That and me falling out of love with the artsy culture, mostly due to it being impregnated with faux-artists these days. There was a time when you couldn’t buy artistic merit at a store in the striped-leggings section.
hahaha… nice constanza.
and hey, can’t win ‘em all on tequila
hopefully people’ll be buying my artistic awesomeness off of their walls. or anybody elses. the light will shine son!
you have a point though, hipster artsy culture was never really my style either, at least not unless it could be easily flip-flopped/interwoven with low-brow comedy gold
got any other places to recommend instead?
