Description – Branding
Branding can apply to any material, concept, or idea, that you or your company/project wishes to communicate to others, and the delivery and presentation thereof. It can apply to anything from logos, and colour schemes, to flyers, clothing, videos, and websites — these things are referred to as House Style. Branding is a large, widely-encompassing, idea-based abstract that acts as a driving-engine for an organization.
Branding is very different from ‘House Style’, though they are tied closely together.
A house style is the actual physical materials mentioned above (logos, colors, templates, etc.)
Often times, organizations which *think* they have a brand or vision, are not clear enough about it to properly approach a designer. Often times an organization desires a world-class House Style, without having their company’s brand sorted out, and since the brand drives the house style, this can become an issue.
A brand is something with drives and guides your vision, and manifests in all the actions, materials, and presentation it engages in.
A quality graphic designer, will become intimately familiar with your brand before he develops your house style.
