SpiritSentient’s Evolved Clothing is intended to be a next-level in functional, aesthetic, high-level clothing. It’s currently available through SpiritSentient.com and through a number of stores in Toronto.

Evolved Clothing is made with bamboo. Bamboo clothing is not made from the fibres of the bamboo plant, but is actually a synthetic viscose made from bamboo cellulose. It is softer than cotton and has inherent antibacterial properties; bamboo clothing has become popular in some fashion circles (like ours, and soon-to-be others!) – It is a breath of fresh air to a world often driven by cotton or synthetics. SpiritSentient embraces change is always researching new fabrics. Bamboo clothes have a look and feel similar to damask silk, do not build a static charge, and have approximately 3 times the service life of cotton.

Bamboo is absorbent and thermo-regulating. It absorbs up to 60% more water than cotton. This makes it an excellent choice for warm-weather beachwear and bulky winter clothing. It’s breathable and thermo-regulating – the porous nature of the fibre makes it breathable and extremely comfortable against the skin.

Anti-bacterial There’ve been a number of studies (one by China Industrial Testing Center, one by Japan Textile Association, and one by Jonano,) that highlight bamboo’s resistance to fungal and bacterial growth.

Bamboo fibers have natural UV protection (as do hemp fibers). Although testing has yet to determine exactly how much protection it provides, estimates range from SPF 10 to SPF 20. It’s not a substitute for sunscreen but its definitely helpful . The protection is natural rather than chemically added, which is part of why it’s effects are not accurately measured yet.

Bamboo fabric is considered an eco-fabric as the agricultural production method is sustainable and renewable. Bamboo essentially grows as a naturally organic plant even when in managed production. Bamboo also offers a lot more photosynthesis benefit than any other clothing option. A bamboo grove releases 35% more oxygen than the same size stand of trees. However, that said, it must be recognized that bamboo does require a caustic soda process [sodium hydroxide] to break down the biomass fiber to create the fabric. Thus, there is still room for improvement within the final production method. And while it is not a perfect system, it IS a step in a healthier direction. Bamboo naturally grows organically because as the planet’s fastest growing grass, it doesnt require additonal growth-stimulating fertilizers. In fact, bamboo grows to its maximum height in approximately 3 months and matures in 3-4 years, ready for harvest.

Bamboo naturally repels most insects and pathogens, so no need for toxic pesticidal sprays.

"Nature Rejects Nothing", the concept being that everything we’ve built as humanity has *all* come from nature. Yes, the forests, lakes, and beaches we have all come from nature, but the cars, computers, and plastics we have are all originally from nature as well. Nature rejects nothing. It accepts and allows everything to exist peacefully and harmoniously. The key is it does so with balance. ‘Problems’ arise when we focus too much on one side of things, most recently, technology and industry.

"Mind-Beauty-Connection" is an artistic original with the subtle touch of an Audrey Hepburn quote regarding inner and outer beauty blended in. The concept of this design is our thoughts create our reality and the beauty that surrounds us. The response to this design has been massive, and people have reported feeling "dipped in butter, yo" while wearing the shirt.

Evolved Clothing embodies a new level of t-shirt, taking inspiration from some of the biggest names in clothing and adding in a huge dose of SpiritSentient-style love.

They are a 70% bamboo blend, with a silky-yet-breathable feel. They’re 100% locally made and they feature an insanely beautiful screen-printed design, handled at one of the finest facilities in Toronto, a 5-color process by a printer who’s a powerful artist in his own right (Thanks JD!)

These pieces are exceptionally well-fitted, with not a single extraneous tag to chafe the skin, and if you believe in energy or ‘chi,’ then they certainly possess consciousness-elevating properties.

You can get shirts from Diesel, Affliction or Hugo Boss for easily over $100, and they’re simple cotton, perhaps but not-necessarily-with an all-over print, some embossing, and some more loving details, and we’re not trying to take away from that.

In fact, all those brands are inspiring and beautiful to us. We like to feel though, that there is far more value available through SpiritSentient fashions.
