People Are Ruled By Hugs

Like busting the windows of the car, that’s what they do to people’s hearts, to people’s insecurities. People think they don’t want them all the time. But they don’t understand. But they do and know, when they receive a real hug, it’s more than okay. It makes their day and then some.

We are all hug, able…
We are all hug- guh- able
We are all huggable

If I feel clearly, I’ve always asked and received hugs from whoever was the perfect hugger for me when I was young. Perfect to celebrate the weather or just a broken heart. Speaking of which, just the other day (yesterday), I just hugged the most amazing girl named Leah at a nearby Boston Pizza. Best waitress ever. I (one of us, guess who) even asked her out too :)

*Hug*

Literally. I’m not kidding. People are ruled (or at least heavily influenced by) their moods (just check them out whenever they receive a real hug, mad tears, anyone?). When we are in a feel-good mood, we are inspired, powerful, hyper-productive. When we are down, we are lethargic, low-energy, and generally ineffective in life. What do hugs do? They change moods. They’re powerful, beautiful. Science may have explanations for this, as may psychology or religion – regardless, experience will let us know more clearly.
I’ll humbly make a suggestion for something I’d like to see, more hugs, more often. Do you hug strangers? How about the people close to you? Are you comfortable hugging your Parents? Siblings? Friends? Pizza boy?

Trust.

    A Poem by Thom Gunn

It was your birthday, we had drunk and dined
Half of the night with our old friend
Who’s showed us in the end
To a bed I reached in one drunk stride.
    Already, I lay snug,
And drowsy with the wine dozed on one side.

I dozed, I slept. My sleep broke on a hug,
    Suddenly, from behind,
In which the full lengths of our bodies pressed:
    Your instep to my heel,
    My shoulder-blades against your chest.
It was not sex, but I could feel
The whole strength of your body set,
    Or braced, to mine,
    And locking me to you
As if we were still twenty-two
When our grand passion had not yet
    Become familial.
My quick sleep had deleted all
    Of intervening time and place.
    I only knew
The stay of your secure firm dry embrace.

Hugging is the best thing ever. I would say it deffinately makes my day everytime. Its a surrender. Its unity. Its compassion and peaceful. More hugs is where its at… Its acceptance to me. I feel after a good hug that I am not alone and isolated. And my insecurities diminish ten-fold.
    More affection people!!!! :D
