At SpiritSentient we always carry around a hi-resolution camera to capture whatever moments of awesomeness life offers to us. This is step one in our Inspirational Video Creation.
There are a tremendous amount of videos on youtube, more than any single person could (or would want to) watch. They range vastly in production quality and content. SpiritSentient has started contributing to this with SpiritSentient’s Inspirational Words slideshows.
The latest incarnation of this is SpiritSentient’s Inspirational Words Vol. 2 featuring photography by Arthur and myself, with music (used without permission) by interesting sound guy, Jonathan Deans. It contains quotes from Carl Sagan, Ivan Turgenev, Henry Miller, Osho, Meister Eckhart, Kahlil Gibran, Dr. Seuss, Anne Frank, Minor Meyers Jr., Deepak Chopra, and more.
It was lots of fun to create, and a good learning experience. Quite a bit goes into making one of these and it takes longer than one might think.
There’s the span of weeks when photographs are captured. Once that’s done there’s an hour of photograph selection, whittling down from a large number of shots to the ones that will go into the slideshow (mainly using Adobe Lightroom). Following that there is a cropping and assembling process, often taking multiple photos and arranging them into one slide. Once that’s done there are some hours invested in getting the perfect quotes from the sea of words in the world. Then each slide is opened, the words are added, and the photos are often shifted around to re-balance the slide if the addition of the quote makes it look/feel awkward. Finally all the slides are ready (mainly using Adobe Photoshop).
Then a song is chosen from the SpiritSentient library of over 60,000 mp3s. That song is then cropped/stretched/adjusted for length (Using Adobe Soundbooth). So we have our slides ready, and our music ready.
These resources are loaded into Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Studio, some transitions are added, the video is rendered in HD for YouTube (somewhere around 500MB and 1GB usually) ,uploaded, & tagged.
The last step is sharing it here for you all to enjoy! There’s also SpiritSentient Inspirational Words Vol.1 as well.
We’d love to hear feedback! It always makes me smile to see someone was motivated to write.
