Don’t you? The world benefits from appreciation, gratitude, beauty, love.
This post focuses on all those things.
I just finished a labour of love.
From my collection of 7946 photos (+3 I found while working on this piece), I went through 12 sorting sessions (multiple hours each!) to select 482 hand-picked images, which were trimmed down to approximately 200 video-perfect shots. Then those 200 photos were re-sized, up-res’d, cropped, and re-touched by hand to get them ready for a 720p HD video which required 32 separate renders in After Effects, assembly in Sony Vegas, and 5 final renders to nit-pick details and put on finishing touches. It made use of 2 songs, 1 script (that went through 6 drafts), and I don’t know how many transitions, all to share ~5:40 of video with you guys.
This all took place in a hurricane of inspiration over a period of 4 days.
The result?
A very sexy, very beautiful, very arresting slide-show (if I do say so myself,) which is intended to share some love and appreciation for the beauty of women, and the people who capture and share their images.
Am I bragging? Maybe… I’ve created many, many things in my life, and it occurred to me recently that perhaps people think it happens by magic, or that very little effort, energy, or physical action is involved. It felt like all the goodness I share with the world might be appreciated more and received better if I shared a little bit more about them…
Like how much went into making them.
Maybe people will like it, maybe not, but either way, I had an inspired, amazing blast creating it, as usual
There are other, similar things like this on the net, but they’re usually thrown together in Windows Movie Maker, with very little re-sizing or quality control, and rarely any credit given to the original image-creators. Hopefully I’ve made some progress in those areas, and whether you understand all the technical mumbo-jumbo or not, hopefully it feels good to watch.
Hopefully it touches some hearts (and eyes!)
Hopefully it gets you thinking at least slightly more positively about women of the world, our often sexually awkward culture, and beauty in general.
And hey, if someone wants to make a tribute to guys, for some poetic balance, I’ll totally feature
EDIT! YouTube randomly suspended SpiritSentient’s youtube channel, so for now check the video on Vimeo (a very sexy, very slick, very easy to use YouTube alternative.)
