Health, Wealth, and Love on a Silver Platter

That’s what everybody wants, right? Health, Wealth and Love served up to them quick and easy on an elegant plate?

What would you do if someone offered it to you on a car ride, in a mall, or at a meeting?

Don’t Be Distracted By The Scam Artists

"Hey man, I can offer you $500,000 a year to do something you’re totally not thrilled about and can’t really see yourself doing, even for the experience!"

"I’ve got this guy I really want you to meet! He’s the powerful vice-president of BP Oil. I know that you only date vegans, but he’s cute enough to try it, girl!"

Do the above seem like good offers to you? Do you want $500,000 a year? Do you want a cute, popular guy?

In the past 6 months I’ve been offered an $80,000.00 dollar a year job, a $60.00/hr short-term contract position, and yesterday I was offered $40,000.00 a year to start. I remained open to all these offers, checked with my feelings on them, and swiftly declined.

These are offers that so many people are dying to hear, but when you get down to it, are they really all that great for you?

"Hey man, wouldn’t you like to trade your vision, your fans, and your momentum to date this model who’ll just eat up your time and resources, and you know it?"

"Hey man, I’m just trying to help, but maybe you should go back to retail or shift work… from where I’m sitting things look pretty grim."

"Aw honey, it’s better than being alone, right? He’s not that bad, just date him and have some fun…"

Ever notice how these lines feel like to someone trying to scam you, sell you something illegal, or get you addicted to drugs?

"Hey man, I’m offering <blank>! Doesn’t it feel like an easy way out that’ll make you feel soooooo good, even though you know deep-down this offer is a trap?"

That’s because it often is a scam.

Some people feel that if they can convince others to settle, to stop living, and to embrace the misery that they live every day, that now they have an excuse to feel justified in their just-getting-by-ness.

After all, there’s nobody else around stepping up with courage, right? "All my friends are like me," 9-5, working for the weekend, etc. It’s not like anybody else in my experience is demonstrating balls…

The scam is that they have the mindset that they want to suck you into their reality, they want you to agree with their way of life, accept it, and not shoot for anything higher, because if their friend aims for something higher right in front of them, they’ll feel like a chump, and they’ll likely have to show some courage also.

It’s Like Skinny-Dipping, Really.

It’s like the guy who doesn’t wanna go skinny-dipping when all his friends are clearly, oh-so-clearly, having a blast with a bunch of happy, playful, unashamed people, playing in the water… they’re all encouraging him, leading him, and showing him the thrill and the fun to be had, and the whole time he’s begging them not to do it.

What happens? They have fun, they remember it as one of their fondest experiences, and they probably don’t invite "the whiner" and the "scaredy-cat" out anymore.

I don’t encourage the social labeling much, but the principle at work is sound.

The happy, successful, passionate people of the world, made a decision to do what they loved as much as they can, as often as they can, and to do so with their own form of boldness and courage.

Their reward? It’s different for everyone but it involves feeling fulfilled, serene, and loved.

Usually it doesn’t involve ‘sacrificing’ their souls at some miserable job or in some hum-drum status-quo relationship, or doing something they hate with every fiber of their being.

Sounds like common sense right? Don’t do something you HATE… simple eh? You’d probably react strongly if someone told you sincerely, to go burn your feet in hot coals (unless you’re a tibetan monk practicing some kind of body-mastery). You’d probably strongly push them back for even mentioning such a painful thing, how dare they suggest it to you as a reasonable next step in your life, right?

You’d be surprised about how often people consider subjecting themselves to things they hate, how often they think about it, and how much they discuss it.

Hey, You Know What To Do

It’s a personal thing though — only you know what’s right for you. Only you know your every gut feeling and life experience. No one else knows your story, your path, and your vision for your life.

So rock it, and turn down the oh-so-tempting offers it if feels like it’ll distract you from your true passion, or snap ‘em up if they feel like a thrilling opportunity to expand. Make room to listen and hear the opinions of others, but ultimately trust yourself. You know what to do.

You’re beautiful, powerful, fantastic human beings. Every cell in your body, your entire nervous system, and all the gorgeous muscles, bones, and organs that make up your body are a miracle. One which you can use to rock life. I’m not interested in anyone telling you that you suck, or putting you down, or saying you can’t do something, ’cause that’s complete BS.

You have a purpose, whether you know it right now or not, and it doesn’t involve a whole lot of misery and sacrifice — you can shine.

Saying no closes one door and opens up for better opportunities.

Every opportunity is better than the last, till i find one that makes me want to brag about how awesome it is.

    Kick ass post.

This post did me good to read… got me thinking about the experiences I'd have a clear “Yes!” to. The ones I/each of us want/s to embrace with all our heart and soul. :)
    Good train of thought… :D
    I needed that. Thanks :)
