Giving Helping Hands

If we understand that we are all connected and that every subtle thing we do ripples through the world and affects everybody else, then it’s understandable that helping others comes back to us.
What is not always clear is how powerful that concept is. If we expend some energy to get ourselves some food, it may help only us. If we invest some time, money and energy into raising amazing children; they can easily grow to become talented, rich or powerful people who provide us with awesome creations, food, love and all sorts of other things, especially in our later years. By helping them, we end up helping ourselves and the world (oftentimes, a lot more).
Let’s look at another example. There are many days that Arthur arrives at SpiritSentient with food. The food helps me tremendously but it ripples back to him almost immediately because after I’ve eaten I generally have improved drive, passion, energy, strength, mood, etc. After one simple meal, the two of us may proceed to accomplish more than some companies manage in a year (new endeavours, creations, employees, clients, etc.) Not only that, I”m often so grateful for the food, I”ll cook us both a meal and then clean up all the dishes if he doesn’t feel like helping. For a small investment of personal energy on our part, geared towards helping others, we can leverage massive, rewarding growth and aid for not only us, but many others.
Neale Donald Walsch refers to this as the multiplier effect where just helping oneself isn’t the most powerful leverage one can use. Helping tens or hundreds or thousands of others is, and it comes back to us that many times. It’s as if our own decisions, karma and energy are amplified. Throughout the years, many, many successful people have been quoted using the formula in interviews and books.
“A life isn’t significant except for its impact on other lives.”
Jackie Robinson
“Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.”
Danny Thomas
“The wise person understands that his own happiness must include the happiness of others.”
Dennis Weaver
“If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.”
Dalai Lama
“In helping others, we shall help ourselves,
for whatever good we give out completes the circle
and comes back to us.”
Flora Edwards
“To do more for the world than the world does for you – that is success.”
Henry Ford
“The more I help others to succeed, the more I succeed.”
Ray Kroc
“Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours.”
Brown, Les
…The list goes on.
If we want to do well in the world and feel good and accomplished and joyful and powerful; it may serve us well to look at others who have done this type of thing and see if there is any trend or pattern or guidance we can glean. Of course, observing confused, clueless people who have little to no experience to rely on and tons of heresay is also a method to consider… [grin] Perhaps experiment and experience and try things that successful people have done for yourself, maybe not exactly, but exercise some creativity. Many successful people started out by taking steps to help others first. If you’re able to sincerely and unattachedly do things to help others, you may find all kinds of doors opening and all kinds of rewards coming your way.

So, on that note… uh, help a brother out and donate to SpiritSentient.
