Color Outside Your Financial Lines; Sing A New Money Song

Note: This is a remix of an older article that I felt was overlooked. It’s got fresh graphics and text, and it contains some life-changing ideas about money.

You need to admit something to yourself, and it’s something that will help you so much, but for some reason, many people are scared to really admit it. "Lots of wealthy, successful people started out being poor or in hardship."

These now-wealthy people woke up everyday in their not-so-nice circumstances, and they made certain choices, and adopted certain beliefs about life. They had a certain attitude about things. Some of them were crippled, some were abused, some were repressed, but all of them, had a certain attitude.

Do you think their attitude was like yours? Maybe you are a little injured, a little abused, a little repressed. Fine. So were the world’s successful, at one time, but how’s your attitude? I’m guessing it’s probably NOT at all similar to the legends of the world. You COULD adopt similar attitudes, but you haven’t. Or… if you have, there’s still room for improvement. I know this because if your attitude was already fine-tuned, you wouldn`t be here.

So, it`s vital to break your comfort zones and adjust your attitude to one of success, right? It’s key to try thinking in new ways and making new choice, right? Good, I`m glad we agree.

To help you be inspired to these new beliefs, it`s important to understand how to grow and ‘color outside your financial lines’

The Purpose Of Money

Money doesn’t bring happiness, it doesn’t buy freedom, it doesn’t do anything except amplify and demonstrate what you already are. If you`re a loving, contributing human being, having more money will show that off in a big way. If you`re not interested in helping the world, every money decision you make will show that off too.

Money is an amplifier and a wheel-greaser. It`s a reflection of value. It`s a tool.

If you`d like to get this tool, and use it well, and care for it sustainably, you need to sing a new money song.

Let’s say, right now, you don’t currently see yourself as having much money — to most people it looks like you’re poor:

Will You Ever Get The Money You Want?

So fine, things don`t "look" so great right now. Does that mean you’ll never get money? Should you act and talk like everything is limited and poor? Or will you adopt the attitude of the successful? There are times when the wealthy "dont have much money", but they use the situation as springboard to even greater success. Walt Disney, Donald Trump, Thomas Edison and more, all have done this well. "Poor" is temporary for them, and doesn’t generally last long. Napoleon Hill did it. I’ve done it. You can do it.

If you have the thinking and habits of the Money-Masters, then when you eventually get income you’ll invest it well, manage it well, and grow it well. You’ll do this quite naturally.

If you have the thinking and habits of the poor, the scarcity-mongers, and the fearful, then when you eventually receive income it will be easy come, easy go, back to the status quo.

The future often looks uncertain, but choosing a fearful attitude, or a curious faithful attitude is always up to you.

Admit that you have years to go. Things will not be hard forever. They get easier. The future unfolds. Things change. ‘Overnight sensations are possible,’ as are step-by-step growth.

Change your thinking, develop new habits.

Our thinking and habits are so powerful, so integral towards shaping our life experiences, it’s often impressive and shocking when people realize just how much thoughts affect all areas of our lives.

You Have Old Money-Attitudes

We get an interesting setup from birth. As kids we absorb the ideas and attitudes around us, and many of us learn our money-habits from family and friends who have some of the most limiting beliefs about money imaginable.

That’s it, we move on with our lives, never taking a look at our money attitudes, and then wonder why wer’re ending up doing the same things our parents and friends are doing.

We have their money-attitudes!

We haven’t been daring enough to color outside the lines or experiment with new ideas. At least that was for me for a long time.

Let’s look at some examples.

One of the most intriguing groups is the ‘poor’ or ‘middle-class’ or whatever label you want to tag on them. They are people who feel limited by money. (You may be able to see bits of yourself in one or more of these groups, or maybe not.)

Group 1: "Born Poor (or Middle Class)" – People who see themselves as growing up without money, and see themselves still not having it.

Group 2: "Lotto-Wasters" – People who see themselves as growing up without money, and somewhat luckily acquire a lot, and then lose it again.

Group 3: "Trial By Fire" – People who see themselves as growing up without money, and then turned their lives and thinking and focus around to acquire it, and then maintained and kept it.

Group 4: "Born Rich" – People who see themselves as growing up with money, and somehow losing it or misusing it.

Group 5: "Redeemed" – People who see themselves as growing up with money, and somehow losing it, and then regaining it.

Group 6: "Blessed And Know It" – People who see themselves as growing up with money, investing it and managing it well, and increasing it.

(There are more scenarios, but these are the basics.)

Each of these groups are their own roller-coaster ride of financial life.

None of these groups is worse than the othe, they are just situations, created through a series of choices, and they can be changed or kept.

We’ll be looking at groups 1-3 for this article.

First up, we have group 1: "Born Poor (or middle class)" – Most artists spend some time here.

Financial Blueprint - Setpoint Low 1

Next we have group 2: the Lotto Wasters, you’ve probably heard stories.

Financial Blueprint - Setpoint Low 2 - Lottery

And 3rd: Trial-By-Fire-ers.

Financial Blueprint - Setpoint Low 3 - Change To High

From the above diagrams, we get a visual understanding of how people have a financial setpoint or level, that directly relates to the events of their financial lives. We can see that their setpoint (which is made up of their thoughts, habits, and inner-workings) are what really pull their life story along.

Each group follows a very predictable path, it’s stable, it’s understandable, and it’s going to happen UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT.

Changing Your Attitude

You attitude creates your financial setpoint, so… how does you go about changing your financial setpoint?

You have to change your thoughts, speech, and habits.

"Srsly? They’re just ideas" you may say. "Excellent," I respond, "because ‘thinking’ is an easy task, right? Anyone can think, and so, anyone can think some new ideas."

Financial Beliefs Solutions

I know adopting new beliefs and changing attitudes can feel a bit unfamiliar, a bit awkward, but let me ask you… has anything else you`ve done worked? No? THEN TRY SOMETHING NEW. Try it, and observe the results you have.

The intention here is to think new ideas about money that feel good to you emotionally; that you feel passionate about, and are able to believe, purely as much as you can. If you think them along with other harsh, skeptical thoughts, their effectiveness is diminished, since the harsh skeptical ideas are also powerful too. Don’t fuck up your new success thinking and money ideas, with repetitive, powerful NEGATIVES.

Instead of thinking stuff like "I work hard", think stuff like "I do what I love, for right now"

To really realize the power of what’s going on, give some thought to how often you’ve heard the ‘Old Ideas’ above in your life.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was quite often. Good news is, changing this pattern can be extremely, extremely, effective.

My intention is for you to integrate these new ideas into your habitual thoughts and speech, so that they’re natural, automatic responses to life.

Go try it, and rock your success! And let us know how your life turns around in the comments below!
