Suffer In Silence Or Speak Up And Speak Out?

Suffer In Silence Or Speak Up And Speak Out?

Do you have something to say? Do you want to be heard? The world wants to hear you, the world wants you to use your voice.

I don’t mean your writing ‘voice’ (though the world wants that too).

I mean use your real voice, the physical one you born with. It’s one of the most powerful tools for expressing yourself and moving others, and unless you’re a musician, chances are you haven’t paid much attention to it.

Way too many talented, passionate people are scared to speak up. If you can’t speak up to the people closest to you – your friends and family, you won’t be able to speak up anywhere else. Start now, speak up.

Fame Monster Or Fame Master?

Fame Monster Or Fame Master?

School asks us a lot of questions, but not like these:

Are you comfortable with fame?

If you had instant fame tomorrow, how would you feel about it?

What ingredients are necessary to be famous?

Well, I know one thing, what we love grows, and what we ignore doesn’t, and I love fame.

And recently I’ve had some fame of my own. A Toronto artist, Pooneh Stad sketched a portrait of me, I was in a music video with rapper Famous and songstress Melanie Durrant, I was mentioned in the thank you section of Dave + Audley’s BasketBall Quotes Book, and I’m speaking to a sold-out group of creative entrepreneurs in two days.

How did I end up doing these things?

I didn’t use any tactics or techniques, I didn’t even use a ‘strategy.’

So What’s Your Art’s Unique Message?

So What’s Your Art’s Unique Message?

If you ask a mechanic what kind of vehicles he specializes in, he can tell you confidently and easily. If you asks a therapist what’s different about her treatments, she can explain it to you well.
When someone asks you questions about your art, are you able to deliver a clear, powerful, connecting response?

If you’re like most artists the answer is… not even close.

You might mumble something or ramble a long paragraph about ‘expression.’ You might give a vague general answer like: "Its… abstract." You might avoid the question entirely. Whatever the case, another human being is trying to connect with you, they want you to give them some ammo to tell their friends. They want to tell people about this cool artist they met, but they’re not gonna do it if they don’t have clear details to share.

3 Ways To Be Cool With Fame

The amount of confusion and judgment about fame is pretty nuts. It seems like I can’t bring up one piece of pop-culture without people telling me how they "hate <blank>" about it, or "oh <blank> sucks, they should do something else," or "psssht, must be nice to be that <blank>"

It’s pretty played out, man. I stopped talking and thinking that way a long time ago, and now I’m just cool with success. If somebody feels good about their life and what they’re doing, why complain?

Here’s 3 things I’ve done to really get my mind, body, and soul prepared for fame. These are things most famous people have already done, but they don’t explain it and may not even be conscious of it. You’re getting the ideas provided to you clearly. Ready?
