Not So Random Appreciation

Posted by on Jul 23, 2009 in Appreciation, Awareness, Personal Growth, SpiritSentient.com | 4 comments

I’m grateful for life. I’m grateful for everyday I’m alive. I’m grateful for every breath, I’m grateful for all the beautiful people: family, friends, strangers, everyone. I’m grateful for all the connections I’ve made and the amazing people I’m blessed to associate with. I’m grateful for every piece of music, or work of art, or simple conversation that people share. I’m grateful for all the amazing ideas and visions from everyone around. I’m grateful for everywhere I”ve lived, for everywhere I will live. I’m grateful for everything I’ve created, and everything I will create. I’m grateful for compliments, and I’m grateful for criticisms (I generally prefer to hear compliments). I’m grateful for all the expansion and growth SpiritSentient has experienced and I’m grateful that there’s more on the horizen. I’m grateful that I can repeat the phrase “I’m grateful, over and over”. I’m grateful that you’re still reading it. I”m grateful for every opportunity to travel and meet new people and I’m grateful for every chance to stay home with familiar faces. I’m grateful for wonderful food, financial freedom and fun relationships. I’m grateful for the rapid evolution of technology, facebook, youtube, blackberries, etc. And I’m grateful that I can walk, cellphoneless through the forest and parks scattered throughout Toronto. I’m grateful that I learn so fast and I’m grateful that I’m able to help others do the same.

Thanks everyone :)

I am a Creative Person

I am a Creative Person

I am a creative person. I see my neighbor, my sister, brother, dog, cat, teacher, friend, relative, proximity bug do something with their abilities that seems to be satisfying them creatively and I want to do that too.

But I can’t. I mean..

I’m better than all of them. I can do this. I can do that. I’ve been honing my skills in my space for so long and my abilities are just technically more advanced than those around me. I have so much to give.

Well…. Who cares?

Hundreds and thousands sit with their abilities in their caves and think about getting out there. About putting a foot in the stream… And hundreds of thousands let these abilities go unseen, unfelt, unheard.

And.. that’s fine with me. If that’s okay with you.

So ask yourself. Do you care? Do you have an anxiety to do something and you really want people to know about it, hear about it.. feel it? If that’s the case than you have no other choice.

Get off your ass.

I always think about some of my habits. The ones that aren’t so great. A few drinks here, a few smokes there, a burger here, plate of fries there and I consider one thing..

If down the road when I’m 80 years old I will look back and regret this stuff because it’s taken a toll on my health than I shouldn’t be doing it.

This is the key to my moderation. Which no lie, can be misconstrued as anything but moderation at time to others, but for the most part I’ve been able to stay increasingly more disciplined as I age into my late 20s.

Now relate that, thanks Albert, to your art.

Think down the road when you’re in the middle of a Seniors Dodgeball game and your dentures pop out and sit smiling at you on the gymnasium floor.
Will you regret not doing something more with your art?

Don’t lose sleep over it now. You have every moment in the world to do what you want. You want to be a doctor? Then start the path. I say, you’ll get what you want or you’ll die trying. And bliss in the things that you love — as we all know..
Is just about the greatest thing that life has to offer.

Giving Helping Hands

Giving Helping Hands

If we understand that we are all connected and that every subtle thing we do ripples through the world and affects everybody else, then it’s understandable that helping others comes back to us.

What is not always clear is how powerful that concept is. If we expend some energy to get ourselves some food, it may help only us. If we invest some time, money and energy into raising amazing children; they can easily grow to become talented, rich or powerful people who provide us with awesome creations, food, love and all sorts of other things, especially in our later years. By helping them, we end up helping ourselves and the world (oftentimes, a lot more).
